Message from the President

Dear Club Member, It's with a great deal of pride that I write to you as President of Dalziel Rugby Club. Last season had its low points with our relegation from National 3 to West Regional 1 but towards the end of the league campaign we saw some green shoots of recovery with some very creditable performances which augers well for the current season. Under the assured coaching of Graham Calder and Stephen Clowes, along with captain Eddie Ferguson's enthusiasm, I am confident of good times ahead. The Committee recognises that a strong, vibrant, youth rugby section is integral to the future sustainability of Dalziel Rugby Club. So this year we will be introducing a new role of Club Development Officer to work closely with the coaching staff to forge new community links, develop and foster youth players and help to address the current challenge of lack of numbers across some age groups within the Midi Section. The long-term aim is to convert youth players into well-rounded, skilled, senior team players and Club Members. This is a major and forward-looking commitment for Dalziel and does require funding. As a result, there will be a modest increase in Club subscriptions at all levels. For most memberships this will amount to an increase of around £4 per month. It's actually been 10 years since the subs were increased and I know you will understand the reasoning behind this move. Full details and how it affects you can be found on the Club website -

In addition, our finance committee will be introducing some innovative fundraising schemes as we strive to grow and maintain the Club coffers. I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all an enjoyable and successful season and look forward to seeing you on the touchline soon. Best wishes, Duncan.
