MATCH REPORT
Very proud of the U13s performance at the festival yesterday. Whilst they didn't win the trophy they claimed the moral victory!

Opposition were Helensburgh and Hamilton, but Hamilton were only able to bring 6 players.
First up was Dalziel vs Helensburgh. Dalziel started well and raced into an early lead with tries from Callum, Charley, Oliver and a great solo effort from Antony before half time. Changes in the backs at half time meant that Helensburgh got a foot hold, but a couple of second half tries weren't enough to pull them level, and Dalziel took the win. Up next was Hamilton vs Helensburgh with Hamilton fielding more Dalziel players than their own. Another good performance saw "Hamilton" run out comfortable winners, with 14 Dalziel players playing in the game.

The last game saw Dalziel vs Hamilton (with again Hamilton borrowing players from Helensburgh) in a winner takes all final game. Dalziel competed well in the first half, leading at half time. But tiredness was taking its toll on a hard working team, and a fatal error (grounding the ball on the white line rather than the yellow try line) led to a double move penalty. Had Dalziel scored it may have won the game, but from the penalty, Hamilton went up the other end and scored. With such a mental blow to a tiring team, Dalziel resorted to old bad habits, trying to bulldoze up the pitch through the forwards and the Dalziel backs getting out of shape. Hamilton scored a final try to take the title.

The boys got plenty of game time, enjoyed the competition and took lots of positives from improvements in their game. But ultimately were dissapointed that they couldn't get over the line (physically and metaphorically)!
