Dalziel Dominate but can not cross the whitewash
A bright warm afternoon welcomed the supporters to Dalziel Park on Saturday and all anticipated a fine local derby. Hamilton needed a win to secure Premier 2 rugby next season and brought plenty of supporters across the Clyde for the match.

Dalziel dominated the territory and possession from the start but it was Hamilton who kicked an early penalty to lead 3 to nil. Dalziel continued to hammer aw...

Dazzlers at Cumnock
On a day more suited to Cricket and sun bathing a depleted 3rds made the journey to Ayrshire to take on last years bogey team Cumnock. With the memory of a poor game last year still hurting the dazzlers kicked off and went on the attack and produced some good driving rucks but this was to come to nothing as Cumnock slowed the game to a pace they were comfortable with. This frustated the boys and m... More...

Dalziel 1st XV 28 v 34 Perthshire
Dalziel travelled to Perthshire on Saturday seeking to turn the season round, but after only 3 minutes they were a score down after Perthshire executed a fine converted try. Not the start the visitors wanted and they had to quickly regroup. They started to play some hard running rugby and took the game to the home side. A good run from Craig Simmonds released Jamie McAulay who passed to John Goldi... More...

Dalziel Blow It Again!
Both sides were in need of a win and it was Musselburgh who started the stronger. With one minute gone they ran hard at the Dalziel defence and only some excellent defensive work from Ross McAulay saved a certain score. Dalziel worked their way into the game but on 10 minutes Musselburgh drove over from a driving maul to score the first points of the afternoon. The try was converted and Musselburg... More...

Dalziel 1st XV 11 v 33 Whitecraigs
Whitecraigs arrived at Dalziel Park determined to do the double on the Motherwell side and from the KO they took the game to Dalziel with some powerful sorties into the home side’s territory. All credit to Dalziel they defended well and by 15 minutes had scored two penalties through Robert Simpson to lead by 6 to nil. The lead did not last long and within five minutes Whitecraigs had scored thei... More...

Dalziel 1st XV 14 v 32 Stirling County
Both teams took the field in bright sunshine to contest the third cup match of the season. Supporters were a bit thin on the ground but those in attendance witnessed a good match with Dalziel once again improving on each match.

Stirling, a league above Dalziel, and heading for Premier 1 started the stronger and were rewarded on 7 minutes when their wing cut a lovely angle to go under the posts. T...

Dalziel 1st XV 6 v 16 Peebles
Dalziel travelled to Peebles on Saturday to play their second cup match of the season. Despite the very wet weather the Peebles pitch was in very good condition and the crowd starved of rugby recently looked forward to a good match.

Dalziel with some changes to recent lineups started the better of the two sides and commanded both ball and territory in the early exchanges. An excellent cross kick ...

It was close but no cigar!!
Dalziel continued their league campaign visiting Ardrossan who lie in 3rd place and are in the mix for one of the two promotion spots. The conditions were excellent for running rugby, however both teams struggled to play well after the long layoff. The match was not helped by a somewhat inconsistent display from a whistle happy referee!

Ardrossan started the better and had most of the territory a...

Dalziel 1st XV 8 v 10 Howe of Fife
Having not played for several weeks Dalziel travelled to Fife hoping to get their league campaign back on track. Howe wisely moved the match to Madras’s drier pitches at St Andrews, this guaranteed the match would go ahead in what turned out to be dreadful conditions.

Dalziel from the kick off dominated proceedings and kept Howe on the back foot for most of the half. The Fife side however were ...

Dalziel 1st XV 7 v 25 Dumfries
Dalziel moved their league game to Friday night under the floodlights at Dalziel Park. The pitch was in great shape and the largest crowd of the season were looking forward to the match. The club were happy to welcome Graham Calder home after the last few years playing top flight rugby. A home win was anticipated but what followed for the next 60 minutes was the worst performance of the season by ... More...
