Seconds Destroy Watsonians
With no First XV game, the attention of the club turned to the Second XV’s game against Watsonians. The seasons of both teams could not be much more different, with Watsonians sitting third in Reserve National 2, while Dalziel were rooted to the bottom in twelfth position. However, Dalziel were keen to prove that they were better than their position reflected and took the game to Watsonians from... More...

Dalziel move off the bottom with draw
Dalziel moved off the bottom of RBS Championship A on Saturday with a draw at home to Greenock Wanderers. Despite the elation of climbing out of the automatic relegation spot, there was a sense of disappointment and the feeling that this was 2 points dropped rather than 2 points gained.

Dalziel fielded the kickoff and returned it downfield, trying to utilise the low sun that was blinding the Gree...

Dalziel 1st XV 0 v 13 Ardrossan Academicals
Dalziel travelled to the Ayrshire coast to first foot Ardrossan Academicals in RBS Championship A.

Dalziel started the stronger team, but some ferocious defending from the Ardrossan midfield was not allowing anything through. A kick through by Ardrossan was fielded by Lee McWhinnie and the winger set off on a mazy run pulling two defenders out of position. Craig Simmonds picked the ball up from t...

Seconds getting better but still no win
Dalziel 2nds played far better than they have of late. A run of defeats with a new team is hard going in this competitive league where most other clubs 1st team are in higher divisions.

Dalziel started well and succeeded with a penalty goal from Davie Stewart in the first 5 mins. GHA then pressurised Dalziels defence with Steven Rowe making some telling tackles. The game then went int...

But fae a scrum the ba' went fae wan wing tae t...

Dalziel 1st XV 19 v 31 GHA
Dalziel welcomed GHA to Dalziel Park on Saturday to mark the second half of the season. GHA had been victorious on the opening day of the season, but Dalziel had shown in that game that they were more than a match for the Glasgow club.

From the kickoff, GHA mounted an early attack, spreading the ball wide to put pressure on the Dalziel backs. Their winger chipped Lee McWhinnie, but the ball was g...

Dalziel Defeat Dumfries
Dalziel welcomed Dumfries to Dalziel Park on a cold, but sunny afternoon. Dumfries had edged the home team out on four of the previous five encounters, but were not having a great start to their season, so Dalziel knew this was their chance to break their losing run.

From a lineout, Dalziel piled the pressure onto Dumfries, Craig Collin, Grant Clark and Ross Westwood all making in roads to the op...

Dalziel 1st XV 24 v 39 West of Scotland
Dalziel travelled to Milngavie to play West of Scotland. The hosts had yet to win a game this season, and after the win the previous week, Dalziel were looking to build some momentum. However, West had other ideas and a kick by former Dalziel stand-off Ross McAulay pushed Dalziel back into their own half. West managed to force two penalties, but Mark Davis was only able to convert one to give his ... More...

2nd XV run out of steam
In Dalziel's 3rd league game a better performance than last 2 disappointing games with hopefully a win was expected.

This XV was a massively changed due to injuries and call offs throught the club , only 8 of last weeks squad of 19 were playing , 5 promoted to 1sts due to injuries in that XV & 6 unavailable made it a difficult task. Unfortunately or fortuneately for 2nds the 3rdXV game was c...

Dalziel claim first win of the season
Dalziel welcomed Dunfermline to Dalziel Park for their third league game of the season. John Phillips gathered the kickoff and the ball was passed out to John Harris who executed a delightful backhanded offload to put Lee McWhinnie into space. From the resultant maul, the ball was moved to the other side of the pitch, where Craig Collins was able to barge over from short range to open the scoring.... More...
