After the frustration of last week’s late call off, Dalziel finally played their first fixture since November when Dumfries travelled up the M74 for the first of two visits within a week. While next week will be a welcome return to league business, this was the romance of the West Regional Cup.
The Dalziel Park pitch was damp, and the weather appeared to have improved as kick off approached, ho... |

On a dry, but overcast Saturday afternoon with no wind, Dalziel Under 18s played against a strong Dumfries team who had already won the West Regional league. Going into this game Dalziel knew that to win this and the last game of the league with bonus points, would still not get them into the National Cup play offs.
Dumfries started confidently and their big forwards controlled many phases of the... |

Posts: 358 | Dalziel back to winning ways |
| On an extremely blustery day in Edinburgh, Dalziel travelled to Haddington hoping to put an end to their recent losing streak. With such a strong wind, both teams were going to have to minimize mistakes or else suffer the consequences of being put back into their own 22 by a huge kick on either turnover ball or penalties. Conditions were otherwise perfect however, and Dalziel were unusually qui... |

Dalziel 2nd XV got back to winning ways on saturday with a comprehensive 93 - 19 win over a depleted Kirkcaldy. Dalziel had to give Kirkcaldy two players as they had only 13 players available , but all credit to them for wanting to fulfill the game in the spirit of rugby rather than cancel.
From a lineout shortly after kick off , Dalziel pack caught on drove maul 20 metres , set up a ruck from ... |

Dalziel Under 18s travelled down Alloway on Saturday 12th November for a league fixture against Ayr. The Motherwell team were once again under-strength with injuries, call offs and key player Grant Stewart promoted to the Senior 2nd XV.
Dalziel started confidently thwarting any of the Ayr attacks with ease. There were a number of mistakes made by the home team and Dalziel managed to capitalise on ... |

Aberdeen kicked off and started strongly pinning Dalziel back in 22 . With 5 minutes gone they got a lineout 5 metres out. A catch and drive brought a score in corner which was converted. 0-7 This was a hard day for forwards and lineout catch and drive a particular problem.
Dalziel then played better rugby that they have done in a few weeks. The backs especially started to look confident and ... |

Posts: 3 | WINNING UGLY ON A BEAUTIFUL DAY |
With clear blue skies, but on a sodden and muddy pitch, Dalziel Under 18s continued their competitive season with a victory ground out against a stubborn GHA side.
There were no fireworks on this damp squib of a game with the Dalziel team on the ascendency for most of an error-strewn first half. A number of scoring chances were squandered, mostly due to Dalziel players taking ball into contact whe... |

Posts: 358 | Dalziel unable to overcome first half deficit |
| The day was bright, with a wet pitch underfoot as Dalziel welcomed Howe of Fife to Dalziel Park for this Premier 3 match. Dalziel started slowly and Howe took advantage of these making inroads into the Dalziel 22, but they were held out giving away a penalty in the process allowing Dalziel to clear. Howe continued their pressure however, and on seven minutes a straightforward backs move and some p... |

Dalziel were looking to get back to winning ways but a well drilled West side had another story.
Dalziel started with being offside at kick off. West went for the scrum , which Dalziel won against the head. We went on attack and West gave away a penalty , but our kick to touch went too far and the advantage was lost.
Dalziel then defended well with Paul White taking ball off opponent but Dalz... |

Posts: 358 | No returning joy for Cockburn as Dalziel win battle of the defences |
| The skies were leaden and threatening as Lasswade made their first trip to Dalziel Park, after their rapid rise through the divisions and Dalziel knew, with both teams sitting on a record of five wins and three losses, that the match would be a battle to be won in the forward trenches and this was to be the case. Extra spice was added as Lasswade's coach, Davie Cockburn had been Head Coach at the ... |
