Better Play But Not on Scoreboard
Dalziel 2nds played West of Scotland at Dalziel Park. As with all year it was a hard ask , with not many training lack of fitness is our enemy. Dalziel are playing good rugby in places but lack consisitency in that area. This shows up in tackle area where we go too high and are missing a lot to our detriment.

With players playing out of position or new to this level of rugby. Dalziel went b...

Clinical Dunfermline defeat Dalziel
Dalziel travelled to Fife to play Dunfermline in their penultimate league match. Dalziel needed a victory to put the pressure on their hosts in the relegation battle from Championship A.

Dunfermline kicked off and were immediately put under pressure by Dalziel. From a lineout, Grant Clark charged down a clearance kick and set up a ruck on the Dunfermline 22. The ball was spun out to Ross Westwood...

Dalziel gain vital win in relegation fight
Despite having only three league games remaining, Dalziel were playing Whitecraigs for the first time this season after an earlier postponement of the fixture. Knowing that nothing less than a win would suffice in their bid to beat the drop, the Dalziel players were not intending leaving anything on the field.

The signs were ominous when Whitecraigs ran in an early try in the lefthand corner to l...

Dalziel 1st XV 19 v 39 Dumfries
Dalziel travelled to Dumfries for a RBS Championship A fixture against the last team they had beaten in the league.

Dalziel started strongly, gaining a lineout on the Dumfries 10m line. Eddy Ferguson and then Davie Irvine crashing the ball up to make ground before the ball was lost with a loose pass.

Another Dalziel penalty was kicked to the corner, and from the lineout a maul was set up. Dumfr...

Seconds Destroy Watsonians
With no First XV game, the attention of the club turned to the Second XV’s game against Watsonians. The seasons of both teams could not be much more different, with Watsonians sitting third in Reserve National 2, while Dalziel were rooted to the bottom in twelfth position. However, Dalziel were keen to prove that they were better than their position reflected and took the game to Watsonians from... More...

Dalziel move off the bottom with draw
Dalziel moved off the bottom of RBS Championship A on Saturday with a draw at home to Greenock Wanderers. Despite the elation of climbing out of the automatic relegation spot, there was a sense of disappointment and the feeling that this was 2 points dropped rather than 2 points gained.

Dalziel fielded the kickoff and returned it downfield, trying to utilise the low sun that was blinding the Gree...

Dalziel 1st XV 0 v 13 Ardrossan Academicals
Dalziel travelled to the Ayrshire coast to first foot Ardrossan Academicals in RBS Championship A.

Dalziel started the stronger team, but some ferocious defending from the Ardrossan midfield was not allowing anything through. A kick through by Ardrossan was fielded by Lee McWhinnie and the winger set off on a mazy run pulling two defenders out of position. Craig Simmonds picked the ball up from t...

Seconds getting better but still no win
Dalziel 2nds played far better than they have of late. A run of defeats with a new team is hard going in this competitive league where most other clubs 1st team are in higher divisions.

Dalziel started well and succeeded with a penalty goal from Davie Stewart in the first 5 mins. GHA then pressurised Dalziels defence with Steven Rowe making some telling tackles. The game then went int...

Dalziel 1st XV 19 v 31 GHA
Dalziel welcomed GHA to Dalziel Park on Saturday to mark the second half of the season. GHA had been victorious on the opening day of the season, but Dalziel had shown in that game that they were more than a match for the Glasgow club.

From the kickoff, GHA mounted an early attack, spreading the ball wide to put pressure on the Dalziel backs. Their winger chipped Lee McWhinnie, but the ball was g...
