Young Bloods Come Back from Behind Four Times to Win Local Derby

With the typical winter weather affecting matches all over Scotland, including the postponement of the Warriors match in Scotstoun on the previous evening, the Dalziel Dragons were pleased that Waysiders/Drumpellier RFC agreed to shift their home match to the Police Club, Lochinch in Pollock Park, Glasgow.
Although the skies were ...

A Game of Two Halves (We Won Both)
With the blowing high and low, the latest round of the West Division One Under 18 league was played at Dalziel Park in driving rain on a surprisingly good pitch that held up throughout the entire match.
All the talk before the game was about simple rugby and keeping the passes short, but unfortunately the message was forgotten in the very first passage of play, w...

Dalziel record cup win
On a crisp November afternoon, Dalziel welcomed Greenock Wanderers to Dalziel Park in RBS Cup action. Having not won a league game this season, Dalziel were hoping that the change to cup action could change their fortunes.

Dalziel started the game brightly, putting together multiple phases of play, but each time were undone by slack passing. Grant Clark and Grant Neilson were both putting pressur...

Struggle at home
The seconds struggled against a well drilled Greenock Wanderers team , who came to play open rugby.

Dalziel scored 2 tries at start and end of game.
First was a well worked catch and drive from lineout , pushing Greenock back and Burger came up with ball. This was a tactic that had worked in previous games, but Dalziel just couldnt keep it going. Greenock sacked lineout well and Dalziel str...

Dalziel 1st XV 18 v 20 West of Scotland
Dalziel kicked off in this basement fixture and quickly won a line out in the West 22. However the territory and pressure that followed came to naught with a needless kick to the sideline that didn't find touch and suddenly we were back in our half. The first scrum took place on our 10 metre line but the front row immediately showed they had the better of the West boys and it was won comfortably. ... More...

Hill Jills just edge it.
Dalziel played their second league game , looking for an improvement after last weeks drubbing.

Hillhead/Jordanhill were a well drilled team with an impressive set of backs with their stand off leading the way. If they had played a simpler game they could have ran up a bigger score.

Dalziel to their credit stuck at it , but were always a bit strerched , but came back twice in the game to b...

Jeckyll and Hyde on show in West End
The 2nds played their first league game , after 2 postponed games. Spirits were high having dropped down a league that the rugby would be easier. Not so , Dalziel learned to their cost that there is no easy league game.

In the first few minutes Dalziel started strongly , good defence from a scrum which they moved wide and a good tackle enabled Euan Carruthers to counter by kicking thro...

Dalziel 1st XV 10 v 30 Hamilton
Dalziel welcomed old rivals Hamilton to Dalziel Park for the fourth game of the RBS Championship A season. Dalziel were winless so far, but were improving with every game and were looking to make a statement after a narrow defeat to Dumfries the previous week,

Dalziel kicked off, and Hamilton knocked on. From the scrum, Dalziel pressed into the Hamilton 22 forcing an offside penalty. Ross Donnach...

Improvement, but no reward for Dalziel
Dalziel welcomed old foes Whitecraigs to Dalziel Park on Saturday which served as a tasty digestif to the Annual Family Fun Day that had been taking place on the main pitch. Dalziel had 10 changes from the team that lost to Falkirk the previous week enforced due to injury and work commitments.

Cameron King kicked off and immediately, Whitecraigs ran the ball back at Dalziel, with Derek McMillan t...

Good Away Win
Dalziel 2ndXV had their first competative win on Saturday , against a strong Livingston team who had won their league last year.

This follows a 2nd/3rd team squad of 28, win over Moffat on Tuesday night.

Livingston kicked off and Dalziel set up ball and Chris Hunter , who was playing his first game after 2 years , went back to old ways and the mobile prop kicked the ball upfield. ...
