Dalziel 1st XV 11 v 6 Whitecraigs
It had been billed as a tight game and some of the Whitecraigs players, with their choice of playing attire, took it quite literally. Prior to kick off there was a minutes silence in memory of Bill McLaren, all at Dalziel have fond memories of the legendary commentator.

When the game kicked off on the dull, damp, afternoon the Dalziel support new that their team had not taken the field in over si...

Dalziel 1st XV 31 v 3 RHC
Saturday saw Dalziel maintain their nine point lead at the top of the league. The opponents were RHC Cougars. Conditions were far from ideal, fog hung over the ground creating a cold atmosphere. This did not seem to suit the Royal High coaching staff who seemed determined to have the game postponed, but to the referee’s credit he justifiably dismissed their requests and the game went ahead.

As Ro...

Dalziel 1st XV 43 v 10 Murrayfield Wanderers
Dalziel travelled to Murrayfield Wanderers confident that they could maintain their 100% record for the season. Pre match reporting had described the Motherwell side as vulnerable after there last two league wins, but by the time they departed from the shadow of the national stadium the home side had nothing but praise for their visitors.

From the kick off Dalziel mounted wave upon wave of attack...

Dalziel 1st XV 14 v 6 Linlithgow
As the crowd gathered for game thirteen of the league campaign, the mist began to roll over the ground creating a cold, damp atmosphere, very fitting for what was to follow. A late call of by Whitehead saw Armstrong introduced to the starting line up and Philips joining the squad

Linlithgow had come with no intention of playing positive rugby, and seemed to be on a damage limitation exercise. Th...

Dalziel 1st XV 121 v 0 Preston Lodge
Club Dalziel continued the season with this away fixture in the preliminary round of the Scottish Hydro Shield. The conditions were dreadful, but if Preston Lodge expected a kicking and set piece game they were in for a shock. Dalziel were fielding young hooker Euan Stewart which meant the team started with five under eighteen players. The fans were there in numbers in spite of the weather and wer... More...

Dalziel 1st XV 29 v 5 Edinburgh University
Dalziel travelled to Peffermill on Saturday with, as all other away games, a strong travelling support. They were thanked before the match by head coach Jimmy Sinclair for making the trip.

The weather gave us perfect conditions for running rugby and that is how the game began with a fast flowing start from the Dalziel boys as they moved the ball away from contact areas searching for a weakness i...

Dalziel 1st XV 45 v 0 Annan
At the beginning of October the goal had been set to win all five games during the month. Job done.

The final game of the month, at Dalziel Park, pitched top against bottom in National League 1. Annan defied their lowly position and competed valiantly for the whole match.

From kick off, the league leaders dominated territory and possession, but could not break down a spirited Annan defence, and ...

Dalziel 1st XV 31 v 13 Livingston
Dalziels second week on the road took them to a windy and wet Livingston on Saturday, where expectations were high that they could continue their winning season. It has been a few years since Dalziel had been at Almond Park but nothing much had changed with the home support screaming and shouting at every decision. Again Dalziel had a large travelling support who were a constant source of encourag... More...

Dalziel 1st XV 16 v 13 Whitecraigs
The sun was shining and conditions were perfect for playing rugby. Over fifty Dalziel supporters travelled to Whitecraigs knowing that this would be their hardest game of the season so far, and so it proved.

Dalziel were slow to start and after ten minutes found themselves 6 points behind after some continuous Whitecraigs pressure. This was followed by an injury to Andy Hill who had to leave the ...

Dalziel 1st XV 46 v 8 Ellon
Dalziel continued there league leading form with a sparkling display of running rugby on Saturday at Dalziel Park

With Ellon lying in third position, this was a game Dalziel had to win to maintain their lead in Division one. Ellon, who were relegated from Premier 3 last season, would surely prove the sternest of opposition that Dalziel had met so far this season, but, as has happened in the prev...
