Former Dalziel Front row Gary Strain made his debut with Aviva Premiership side Newcastle Falcons on Tuesday in a preseason Friendly against Bath. Gary was playing along side a few other Scots in the Falcon's squad, namely Phil Godman, Mike Blair, Fraser McKenzie (no, not that one), Ally Hogg and Scott Lawson.
The following snippets were in the Newcastle local press after the game:

"Until then the Falcons had been right at it, Joel Hodgson mixing the play well at fly-half in a side containing Scottish Gary Strain, who formed part of a strong early scrum in his loosehead debut. "

"Meanwhile, Richards has explained the presence of former Glasgow Hawks prop Gary Strain in the Falcons’ side in France, saying: “Gary is a Scottish lad who has been playing in France for the last two years.
“He is on trial with us and we are having a look at him. He did some really good things, as did the whole team.â€"
After leaving Dalziel in 2007, Gary spent 4 seasons with Glasgow Hawks, before moving to play in France with RC Massy for the last two seasons. He has also represented Scotland at U20 and U18, while featuring in the Glasgow Warriors' Back Up Squad.
During his time at Hawks, Gary won the Scottish Shield in 2009, and with RC Massy won Federale 1 and promotion to ProD2 in 2012.
