Double Delight for Bowles as Dalziel win at Livingston
Dalziel travelled to West Lothian to play Livingston in crucial BT National League 3 encounter. Livingston hadn't had the best of starts to their campaign, but had beaten Dalziel twice during the previous season, including a 58-26 win only 5 months previously.

Livingston kicked off in glorious conditions, and imediately won a scrum from a Dalziel knock on. The Dalziel pack put on a monstrous dri...

Dalziel 1st XV 23 v 39 Dumfries
Dalziel welcomed Dumfries to Dalziel Park to mark their first home game of the new season. After the previous weekend’s last minute defeat, Dalziel were keen to put down a marker for the rest of the season.

Dumfries kicked off, and got their hands to the ball first, but in the process knocked on, giving Dalziel a chance to attack early on. Dalziel pressed, and were awarded a penalty when Dumfri...

Dalziel "Robbed" at the Death by Greenock
Dalziel opened their 2016-17 BT League campaign away to Greenock Wanderers. Greenock had been relegated the previous season, and were coming off the back of a good win over Livingston the previous week, but Dalziel knew they had the game plan to beat their Inverclyde rivals.

Dalziel kicked off, but the ball sailed directly into touch, resulting in a scrum to Greenock on the half way line. Greenoc...

Dalziel Suffer Heavy Defeat to Young Jed
Dalziel got their season off to a bad start when they travelled to BT National One side Jed-Forest. Coming up against a team that had only just missed out on promotion to the Premiership the previous season, and one that contained two former Scotland Sevens stars, Dalziel knew it would be a tough day, but a good chance to put their structures to the test against such high quality opposition.

Jed...

Dalziel 1st XV 31 v 27 Berwick
Dalziel made the long trip Berwick on Saturday to take on their fellow National 3 strugglers in a must win match for the Motherwell men.

Dalziel were first to strike on the heavy pitch of Scremerston, with winger James Baxendale continuing his good run of form. The forwards took the ball on through multiple phases before a miss pass from scrum half Donnachie put Baxendale in an inch of space. But...

Dalziel return from Dumfries with hard fought victory.
Dalziel travelled to Dumfries to start off the second half of the season. Dumfries had won 18-10 at Dalziel Park in August, and had only lost one game in intervening 10, and sat top of National Three. Dalziel, on the other hand, had only won two games and sat second from bottom.

Dalziel gave away an early penalty for not releasing the tackled player, and Ben Johnstone stepped up to kick for goal....

Dalziel leave it late to claim bonus point
Dalziel welcomed Irvine to Dalziel Park, knowing that a win over the Ayrshiremen would lift them off the foot of the table.

Dalziel were attacking well, but being careless with the ball in contact and losing possession easily. Twice Dalziel turned down kicks at goal due to the wind, but their lineout wasn’t functioning with its usual fluidity and so any ball won was scrappy.

Dalziel gave away ...

Dalziel Delight with First League Win
On a glorious autumnal afternoon, Dalziel welcomed RHC to Dalziel Park for a BT National 3 encounter.

Things didn’t start well for Dalziel with RHC exerting early pressure and spending much time in the Dalziel half of the pitch. Dalziel were struggling to make what little possession they had count, and RHC were looking dangerous with every attack. After turning over an Dalziel scrum, RHC create...

Dalziel 1st XV 19 v 57 Haddington
Dalziel welcomed Haddington to Dalziel Park for their second home game of the season.

Dalziel kicked off, and the contest in the air was won by Greg Smith. The ball was recycled, but was then fumbled to lose the early momentum. Early in the game, the rain began to pour, making handling tricky for both teams.

Dalziel’s lineout was not functioning with its usual fluidity, but after 3 lost lineou...

Orkney too strong for well travelled Dalziel
Dalziel made the long journey north to Kirkwall to face Orkney on Saturday to play only the second tie between the 2 sides. The previous meeting was in 1999 when Orkney made the trip south to Dalziel Park.

Dalziel started the game slowly, the effects of a 7 hour over night bus journey still not out their system, and lost an early try when Orkney found the gap on the wing to score the first try of...
