Dalziel 21 - Livingston 18
The boys got back to winning ways with a good result against Livingston. We only had 15 available players due to a number of call offs and Callum Davidson and Andrew Prentice stepping up to play for the U14s as they were short of players.
We started the game very well with some strong defence and then went 2 tries ahead. Some slack play for the following 10 mins, including giving away multiple penalties by going off feet at rucks and missed tackles let Livingston back into the game and they led 10-6 at half time. In a much improved 2nd half the boys outplayed and overpowered their opponents and ran in 4 tries, including 2 from Lee McCormick playing his first match for the club.
The boys nearly let Livingston back into the game late on, however a great try saving tackle by Callum Gallagher secured a deserved win. Overall the coaches were very pleased with the boys performance today, in particular the way they turned the result around in the second half. Lots of work hard at training this week ahead of a difficult trip to Kilmarnock next weekend.
Stuart McAlpine 2 Tries, Liam Duff Try, Lee McCormick 2 Tries, Matthew Wheeler Try, Aaron Friel Con and Greig Duncan Con.
Thanks to our 1st XV player Fraser McKenzie for stepping in at short notice to referee the match.
