Dalziel 2nd XV:8
Cartha Queens Park:15
League game @ Dumbreck Road, 11/3/10 - Match photos

The second XV traveled to Cartha this evening to play a rearanged fixture. Both teams agreed it would be a double header and Dalziel had the chance to move up to fourth place in the league.

Dalziel started the game with some determined play and soon pressed the Cartha line but were repeatedly penalised by the referee for infringments baffling to players, coaches and supporters. From this point Cartha gained confidence and Dalziel struggled to create a platform for attacking rugby. For most of the match Cartha did not threaten the Dalziel line but due to a series of penalties they kicked all but one and disturbed the Dalziel scrum and breakdown areas.

Dalziel responded with a penalty by Aitken and the score was 15 to 3 entering the last 10 minutes. Suddenly Dalziel came alive, created good ball and the back division had the platform to attack. Stango took a short ball from his stand off and made a break for the line, he was just 2 metres short but the supporting backs were too slow to support. Two minutes later Armstrong went over for a score created by forward pressure and for the remainung minutes Dalziel hammered the Cartha line only for the final whistle to end their evening. The boys are bitterly disapointed by their performance but will regroup for next week.
