Dalziel S1/S2:35
Friendly game @ Broomfield House, 22/9/13 - Match photos

1st Half
Cumnock began the match quick of the mark and caught Dalziel napping to score an early first try but missed the conversion. Gaining confidence from the early try Cumnock took the advantage while Dalziel were still trying to organize their defensive line and again scored after some sloppy tackling from Dalziel, but again missed the conversion. Dalziel managed to regain their composure and after some good phases of play Cumnock found themselves pressed back in their own 5m area. Their scrum half kicks a clearing ball which Craig Peters was under to collect soundly. He then made some yards himself and after taking some tackles releases to ball to Ruaridh Waddell whose pace was too much for the defense scores. O'Shea converts. Again though Dalziel were not quick enough to re-organize at the restart and Cumnock went through to score, which could have been avoided had it not been for some poor Dalziel tackling. With half time approaching Dalziel once again rallied and pressed forward. A knock on gave Cumnock a scrum in their own half. With some sharp thinking from Dalziel Scrum half O'Shea he was on his counterpart as soon as the ball was out of the scrum ripping from him and passing it to the charging Tomlinson who's speed and strength carried him over the line for the try. Waddell Converts.

2nd Half
The Dalziel coaches must have had some strong words at half time as they came out much more aware and ready for the start. Cumnock took the restart with Declan O'Shea catching it safely and then passing it along the line to Waddell who sprints down the Line with Benjamin Lewis following him in close support, but he didn't need it and scored himself. O'Shea converts. Cumnock were still in the game though and continued to attack well and only the sprint from Scott Bell saved Dalziel from conceding another try as he bundled the attacker into touch. Cumnock continued to apply pressure though and it paid of again after they won their own lineout and then drove it forward to score a try which is converted easily. Dalziel didn't let it get them down though and Jordan Wallace worked hard to push through some big tackles and get the ball down in the corner for another try. Waddell coverts it from a very tight angle. With time almost up Scott Bell, who was just back on after receiving treatment to a cut on his head, showed his great work ethic and fought hard to turn the ball over. The backs were in great positioning and the ball was passed from one wing to the other were Ruaridh Waddell was once again on hand to add the finishing touch and score the try. O'Shea converts.

The Dalziel team worked very hard to come back from a shaky start and some questionable tackling but the held their nerve and composed themselves to get the victory. The S1/S2 mix gelled well and the S1 players showed some great courage up against the opposition S2 players.

Final score Dalziel 35 - 21 Cumnock

Trys Waddell 3, Tomlinson 1, Wallace 1,
Conversions Waddell 3, O'Shea 3
