Dalziel held firm, and managed to clear the ball up field to win a scrum on the half way line. Number 8 Niall McKenzie picked up and broke through the Paisley defensive line. As he was closed down by the Full-back on the 22, he offloaded to the supporting Gary Colquhon, who ran in under the posts to score Dalziel’s first try. Dalziel’s second try came soon after, after a break by centre Alan Lynch saw the ball passed to Colquhon to speed through for his second of the day. Colquhon again converted to put Dalziel 14-0 up at half time.
The second half started in a similar manner to the first, with Paisley again applying pressure on Dalziel. This time, Dalziel indiscipline cost as Paisley took a quick penalty to score outwide. The try was converted and Paisley were only 7 points behind at 14-7.
Dalziel started to play with confidence again, and pushed up the field. A Dalziel scrum 6 metres out was won, and McKenzie again picked the ball and took it towards the Paisley line before offloading to Stewart to reach out and score. Colquhon converted to take the score to 21-7.
Dalziel continued to press for the bonus point try, but were unable to cross the line again, Fraser McKenzie coming close, but being adjudged offside off of Stewart’s kick. In the final play, Paisley again crossed for a converted try to finish the scoring at 21-14.
